SD Card No Longer Required

Tridium has announced an important update to the JACE 9000 licensing model, removing the requirement for an SD card for licensing and operation.
JACE 9000 controllers can now be licensed and operated without an SD card, using the controller's internal Host ID instead.
The change responds to ongoing global memory supply constraints affecting SD card availability and cost.
What is Changing:
Tridium has updated the JACE 9000 licensing model so that an SD card is no longer required for licensing or operation. The JACE 9000 can generate an internal Host ID, providing the basis for licensing without an SD card.
JACE 9000 licensing can now be tied to either the controller's internal Host ID or a microSD (uSD) card already in your inventory.
For further information, refer to the JACE 9000 SD Card FAQ.
Why Is It Changing?
Ongoing supply constraints have affected the availability and cost of SD cards. Due to current SD card shortages, orders requiring an SD card cannot be fulfilled.
This change allows JACE 9000 controllers to continue to be licensed and operated without relying on an SD card.
What Does This Mean for Customers?
Customers can continue to use existing microSD card inventory where available, or license a JACE 9000 using its internal Host ID.
This means that a new JACE 9000 does not require an SD card for licensing or operation.
Licence Transfers During the Transition:
JACE 9000 licensing can now be tied to either the controller’s internal host ID or a microSD (uSD) card already in your inventory.
During the transition period, the following licensing transfers are supported:
- JACE 9000 with SD card → JACE 9000 without SD card
- JACE 9000 without SD card → JACE 9000 without SD card
Self-service transfers are expected to become available in Q1 2027. Until then, please contact your direct partner for assistance.
* A new SKU has also been introduced to distinguish JACE 9000 controllers supplied in a non-SD card configuration.
